Power Redefined: AnkerPrime's 200W Power Bank Overview
Introduction
Over the past year, we have reported, reviewed, and took apart several products from Anker's GaNPrime series, including the Anker 747, 733, 735, and more. For those unfamiliar, the GaNPrime series is Anker's best multi-device fast charging lineup, which includes a range of chargers, power banks, and power strips. These devices are designed to deliver a faster, safer, and more efficient multi-device charging experience.
In August 2023, they took a step forward with the launch of the AnkerPrime series. Just as the name implies, this lineup epitomizes Anker's innovative technology, offering high-performance fast charging, providing high power, efficiency, multi-device support, and enhanced safety features, positioning itself as a leading product in the future fast-charging industry.
Every AnkerPrime model is full of highlights. But today, we'll delve into the specifics of the Anker Prime 20,000mAh Power Bank (200W). It can be used in conjunction with a separately sold 100W charging base. This base not only provides convenient drop-and-charge functionality for the power bank but also functions as a common charging station for other electronic devices, providing versatile utility.
The AnkerPrime series includes three power banks: 130W, 200W, and 250W (not yet released), a 100W Charging Base, three chargers including the 240W GaN Desktop Charger, and a power strip. Currently, the 200W power bank is officially available for purchase.
Adopting a rectangular columnar structure with a gray body and a sleek shiny black front panel, it bears a striking resemblance to the previously introduced Anker 140W PD3.1 Power Bank (737). However, it has increased capacity and maximum total output power of 20,000mAh and 200W, respectively. Internally, it employs a costly potting process that encapsulates materials into a unified structure, ensuring uniform heat dissipation from heat sources. This maintains the battery cells in a healthy working environment at lower temperatures, extending their lifespan and enhancing charging and discharging efficiency. Additionally, the potting process significantly improves impact resistance, moisture resistance, providing better protection against accidental drops or collisions.
This product features a magnetic charging design, enabling automatic alignment and charging when paired with the previously mentioned 100W Charging Base. This eliminates the hassle of searching for cables to connect manually, preventing situations where you discover your device needs charging when it's already low on power. Simultaneously, it supports direct PD charging via cables, offering two flexible charging methods with both achieving a charging power of 100W, fully charging the device in just 75 minutes.
The charging base, sold separately, is designed based on a charging station concept. Apart from supporting a maximum of 100W through Pogo pins, it also includes 2C1A (two USB-C and one USB-A) output ports, with USB-C1 supporting a maximum power of 100W.
Typically, high-end power banks are equipped with LED displays, and this one is no exception. Unlike regular power banks displaying only a few LEDs or digital indicators for battery levels, Anker's model utilizes a TFT full-color smart display, offering clear multifunctional interaction. A green circular graphic in the top left corner displays the current remaining battery percentage. It also provides information on estimated usage time, real-time power for each port, battery health, charge cycles, battery temperature, and allows customization of display duration, offering comprehensive specifications and enhanced user engagement.
Drones require robust power to drive motors for climbing, hovering, and maneuvering, necessitating the use of advanced high-density batteries. Anker's power bank emphasizes high-performance fast charging and employs these advanced batteries, boasting a volume power ratio 2.78 times higher than comparable products, enabling a smaller size, lower heat generation, and longer lifespan. This is the key to achieving a portable yet powerful 200W output. Moreover, the total battery capacity is 72Wh, complying with regulations of most countries allowing power banks with capacities not exceeding 100Wh to be carried onboard without formalities.
Performance-wise, it is equipped with 2C1A ports. Both USB-C1/C2 ports support a maximum output power of 100W, while USB-A can deliver up to 65W. When all three ports are used simultaneously, the total power can reach 200W.
Furthermore, it employs a rare three-way independent circuit design, enabling simultaneous fast charging across three devices. Specifically, when three devices are charged simultaneously, the power allocation is 100W, 60W, and 40W, respectively. Remarkably, it can even provide 100W fast charging to two laptops at the same time, an unprecedented feature in power banks. However, it's important to note that to achieve optimal dual 100W outputs, the USB-A port cannot be used.
Additionally, it features PowerIQ 3.0 fast charging technology, supporting mainstream protocols such as PD3.0, QC3.0, FCP, SCP, AFC, compatible with over 1,000 mainstream consumer electronic products. Moreover, the USB-A port also supports OPPO and OnePlus's SUPERVOOC and Warp proprietary protocols (10V6.5A), delivering faster charging speeds for these brands' devices.
