In a significant development for power management technology, Primechip Semiconductor has unveiled the YX2865, a new synchronous bidirectional buck-boost controller designed to enhance the efficiency and versatility of power converters. This state-of-the-art chip promises to revolutionize applications in industrial and automotive power systems, as well as in next-generation gallium nitride (GaN) chargers.

The YX2865 is engineered to drive silicon MOSFETs and GaN power transistors, supporting a wide input voltage range from 4V to 65V and an output range from 2V to 65V. This flexibility allows the chip to seamlessly switch between buck, boost, and buck-boost modes, making it ideal for scenarios requiring robust power management solutions.

With an impressive power conversion efficiency of up to 98%, the YX2865 stands out in its field. It supports ultra-wide switching frequencies ranging from 50KHz to 3MHz, which can be set via a frequency setting pin (RT). Additionally, the chip features programmable input and output current limits, load current monitoring by ISMON, and adjustable dead time control to optimize switch timing and reduce losses, thereby enhancing system efficiency.

Safety and reliability are paramount in the design of the YX2865. It integrates high-side and low-side gate drivers with under-voltage lockout (UVLO) protections to prevent faults due to low drive voltages. The chip also supports external compensation and programmable soft-start functions, which improve the system's reliability and user experience.

The YX2865 is available in two compact package sizes, 5x5mm and 4x4mm, both featuring a 32-lead QFN package. This variety ensures that engineers can select the most appropriate specifications for their design requirements. The chip's versatile applications range from bidirectional buck-boost DC-DC power supplies to USB Type-C power delivery and power interrupt protection systems.
