Chipown has unveiled the PN8602, a next-generation synchronous rectification controller, setting a new benchmark for thermal management in the 65W to 140W fast-charging market. By enabling active coordination with primary-side controllers to achieve Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS), the PN8602 helps keep primary GaN devices running cool. In tests with Chipown’s 700V GaN solution, the PN8602 slashed primary-side heat by more than 30°C, providing manufacturers with a critical tool for high-power, miniaturized designs.

The PN8602 excels in intelligent energy flow management. By monitoring Drain-Source voltage, it intelligently tracks resonant valleys and forces primary-side voltage down to zero before switching. Key features include a 120V drain rating, broad 3.3V–20V compatibility, and high-speed safety protections, including a 100ns anti-shoot-through trigger that ensures long-term operational stability.

By eliminating the need for bulky heatsinks, the PN8602 empowers designers to shrink PCB footprints while pushing power output higher. It represents a major step forward in creating ultra-compact, 100W+ PD chargers that balance performance, reliability, and cooling efficiency.
