Introduction

In early December 2023, OnePlus captured the attention of tech enthusiasts in China with the launch of its latest flagship, the OnePlus 12. Boasting the latest processor, enhanced display quality, and advanced camera module, this device has once again solidified its position as a must-have for technology enthusiasts.

Now, after just over a month, the product has officially hit the global market, with prices starting at $799 on February 6. We believe this is the perfect opportunity to introduce you to this "flagship killer."

Performance and Cooling

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the most powerful processor on the Android side, the OnePlus 12 reaches new heights with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS4.0 ROM. According to OnePlus, LPDDR5X outperforms LPDDR5 by 33%, and UFS4.0 boasts read/write speeds twice as fast as UFS 3.1.

For cooling, the OnePlus 12 uses the Dual Cryo-velocity VC system. This system includes a dual vapor chamber, Laval nozzle technology, and an airfoil structure to provide the best possible cooling performance.

Display

The OnePlus 12 features a 6.82-inch, 3168 x 1440 (2K) display with a pixel density of 510ppi. It is a 120Hz ProXDR Display with LTPO. The biggest selling point of the display is its high brightness. Under High Brightness Mode (HBM), the total brightness can reach 1600 nits, and the local peak brightness can even reach 4500 nits. However, it is important to note that this 4500 nits brightness can only be activated if you enable the "Peak Brightness Test" option in the developer options.

Plus, it supports traditional advantages such as HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision, all of which can provide users with vivid and true-to-life colors, making multimedia consumption a delight.

Camera

In the camera part, the OnePlus 12 boasts the 4th Gen Hasselblad Camera System, featuring three main cameras and a multi-spectral sensor. The main camera is a 50MP Sony LYT-808 sensor with a 1/1.4" sensor size and an f/1.6 aperture. It also has optical image stabilization (OIS). It also has the 64MP telephoto with 6X in-sensor zoom, and the 48MP ultra-wide with a 114° field of view (FOV) deliver impressive photographic capabilities.

The device can shoot up to 8K24fps video, supports digital zoom up to 120X, and features unique functions like Hasselblad Camera for Mobile and Smart Scene Recognition, ensures that users capture every moment with exceptional clarity and detail.

Battery and Charging

Featuring the common Dual-cell design prevalent in fast-charging smartphones, the OnePlus 12 combines two 2,700mAh batteries for a robust total capacity of 5,400mAh. Despite similarities with its predecessor, the charging capabilities remain exceptional. Wired charging is accomplished with an 80W SUPERVOOC charger, while wireless charging utilizes a 50W AIRVOOC charger. Notably, the OnePlus 12 outpaces the recently upgraded USB-C port of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which supports just over 20W charging.

In practical terms, the OnePlus 12 achieves a full charge in a mere 30 minutes when using the Smart Rapid Charge Mode for wired charging. Wireless charging is equally impressive, taking just 55 minutes to complete. This remarkable speed ensures that you spend less time tethered to a charging cable and more time enjoying the full potential of your device.

Additional Highlights

Other notable features include Wi-Fi 7 readiness for a faster, smoother, and more stable network experience. And also, the OnePlus 12 runs on the latest OxygenOS 14 system, known for its speed and smooth operation. The Trinity Engine, a new software system, enhances the user experience with six passive tools, promising faster and smoother performance. The device also incorporates fun photo tools, productivity enhancements, and performance upgrades for older OnePlus models.

Summary of ChargerLAB

In summary, the OnePlus 12 represents a leap forward in innovation, offering unparalleled performance, a stunning display, a powerful camera system, and decent charging speed.
