Shanghai Southchip Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. (abbreviated Southchip Technology, stock code: 688484) is a high-performance domestic semiconductor design company specializing in power, battery management, and embedded solutions. The company offers various product lines, including charge pumps, DC-DC, AC-DC, wired charging, wireless charging, fast charging protocols, lithium battery protection, and automotive electronics. Leveraging core technologies such as buck-boost charging, charge pump, and GaN direct drive, Southchip has launched several star products that have gained wide recognition in the industry.

Southchip’s products have frequently appeared in devices from brands such as Honor, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, Lenovo, Samsung, and Anker. They have also been successfully mass-produced in pre-installed automotive applications for various car brands, demonstrating their advantages in performance, quality, and cost.

Through an analysis of previous teardown cases, ChargerLAB found that Southchip’s bidirectional buck-boost controller SC8815 has been widely adopted in dozens of devices, including power banks, photography equipment, and small appliances. The following article provides a detailed introduction to this product.

Application Cases of SouthChip SC8815 Bidirectional Synchronous Buck-Boost Controller-Chargerlab

The SouthChip SC8815 is used for buck-boost voltage conversion, charging the battery, and the output of the USB-C port.  It is a bidirectional synchronous buck-boost controller with an integrated I2C port, supporting 2.5 to 36V input and output voltage range and supporting 1 to 6 battery strings. It has under-voltage protection, overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown protection. It integrates the I2C interface and adopts QFN32 package.
