Tesla is taking its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability to the next level overseas. Following the successful rollout of external power adapters for the Model Y L in China, the company has officially launched a dedicated version for the Australian and New Zealand markets. This new adapter boasts an IP44 rating and pushes output to a robust 3.5kW (230V/15A), a notable jump from the 2.2kW limit seen in the domestic Chinese version.

Tailored for local needs, each adapter features region-specific plug interfaces, allowing users to effortlessly power anything from small AC units to electric grills during outdoor excursions. As a core feature of the Shanghai-produced Model Y L, this expansion into V2L peripherals underscores Tesla’s commitment to energy-vehicle interaction. Unlike the promotional giveaways early customers enjoyed in China, overseas buyers can now purchase the unit for 145 AUD or 165 NZD, respectively.

By upgrading power output to 3.5kW and prioritizing localized hardware design, Tesla is effectively rounding out the Model Y L’s accessory lineup for international customers. This move is more than just a peripheral release—it’s a clear demonstration of Tesla’s agility in catering to local market requirements, reinforcing the Model Y’s status as a dominant player in the global EV landscape.
