With power tool users demanding more performance and longevity, the industry is pivoting toward Tabless technology. German power tool giant Metabo is at the forefront with its new LiHDX 18V 8Ah battery pack, which replaces traditional battery designs to boost power, runtime, and charging speed.

The LiHDX series is built with Tabless cells, capable of outputting up to 1800W—often outperforming corded tools. Beyond raw power, the 8Ah capacity and double-speed charging ensure pros can work longer and spend less time at the wall outlet. Tabless tech also means lower internal resistance and better heat management, allowing the pack to sustain peak performance during heavy cutting or drilling without overheating. Plus, its compatibility with the Cordless Alliance System (CAS) makes it a versatile, cost-effective addition to any professional toolkit.

As Battery Trading Network notes, the move toward Tabless technology is a major shift for the industry. By effectively removing the performance bottlenecks of traditional batteries, Metabo is helping power tools move toward a truly cordless future, proving they can match or exceed the capabilities of wired equipment.
