Introduction

We conducted a comprehensive ChargerLAB Compatibility Test video for the iPhone 15 Pro Max as soon as it was released. However, more than half a year has passed, and many new chargers, power banks, and other devices have appeared on the market. How compatible are these devices with the current most powerful iPhone? Let's take a look.

In this updated test, we've included 20 new charging devices, encompassing chargers, power banks, and more.

Charging Compatibility Test

Next, ChargerLAB will conduct a comprehensive test on the compatibility of the iPhone15 Pro Max, evaluating its performance with a selection of more than 100 charging devices. These devices include Apple chargers, third-party chargers, power banks, and portable power stations, aiming to cover the majority of users' charging scenarios.

Apple Chargers

First, let's examine the compatibility of Apple's original braided charging cables paired with their various chargers.

Using the ”original“ 20W (model: A2244) charger, we measured an output power of 8.59V 2.17A 18.65W.

Switching to Apple's new 70W charger, the output power increased to 8.44V 2.95A 24.93W, a slight improvement.

We tested each of Apple's different chargers with the original dual USB-C charging cable. The results align with our previous findings from half a year ago: only the 29W one reaches a power of more than 25W with relatively high voltage and low current, while the others are at the 9V3A level.

Plotting the charging power data into a bar graph, we can see that the iPhone 15 Pro Max maintains its consistent charging performance when paired with Apple's chargers. This is because they all support the PD fast charging protocol, and chargers with an output power of at least 29W can deliver the phone's maximum charging power.

Third-Party Chargers

Next, we move on to third-party chargers. Using the Xiaomi 45W pudding charger, we achieved an output power of 8.73V 2.94A 25.64W.

Switching to the UGREEN 3-Port PD GaN Fast Charger 65W, the charger output power reached 8.77V 2.94A 25.75W.

Summarizing the compatibility test data for third-party chargers, we observe that the charging power of these chargers is relatively stable. Chargers with an output power of 30W or higher can deliver around 25W of power when charging the phone, while 20W chargers can reach around 18W.

Creating a bar graph of the charging power data for third-party chargers, we see that the iPhone 15 Pro Max's charging power is primarily concentrated in the 18W and 27W ranges. Excluding the maximum output power of the charger, two Huawei 65W chargers had lower power output. The performance of the remaining third-party PD chargers is comparable to that of Apple's chargers.

Power Banks

Now, let's turn our attention to power banks. Using the recently released Pouch 3-in-1 power bank 10000mAh from SHARGE in collaboration with OnePlus, we measured an output power of 8.68V 2.94A 25.50W when charging the phone.

Next, we tested the UGREEN 130W 20000mAh power bank, which delivered an output power of 8.77V 2.93A 25.72W to the phone.

Compiling the power bank test data into a table, we see that most power banks trigger the 9V voltage level and can deliver a maximum charging power of around 25W. The iPhone 15 Pro Max exhibits similar compatibility with power banks as it does with third-party chargers – both are quite good.

Visualizing the data as a bar graph, we observe that the charging power of most power banks for the iPhone 15 Pro Max remains around 25W. This means that power banks supporting the PD 9V/3A voltage level can deliver an output power that reaches the phone's charging power limit.

Power Stations

Finally, let's explore power stations. Using the Baseus IOTA 140W's USB-C port as an example, it can provide the phone with an output power of 8.41V 2.95A 24.81W.

The USB-C of ZEEKR 1200W delivered an output power of 8.53V 2.95A 25.15W。

Summarizing the data into a table. Power stations generally have 60W/100W USB output ports. Testing shows that the iPhone 15 Pro Max can trigger the 9V voltage level, with a charging power of around 25W.

Plot the charging power data as a bar graph, and you can see that the charging power of the iPhone 15 Pro Max remains around 25W. The charging performance shows no significant difference compared to various chargers, power banks, and other devices.

Summary of ChargerLAB

Overall, the iPhone 15 Pro Max demonstrates decent compatibility with a wide range of chargers, power banks, and power stations. It consistently reaches its maximum charging power of 25W when paired with compatible chargers, ensuring a quick and efficient charging experience.

However, it's worth noting that the iPhone 15 Pro Max's maximum charging power remains relatively low compared to some contemporary Android flagships. We hope that Apple will continue to refine the charging capabilities of the iPhone, potentially by introducing new charging protocols or optimizing the charging process, to provide users with an even more enhanced charging experience in the future.
