Joulwatt has unveiled the JW1556ZJ, a new Asymmetric Half-Bridge (AHB) flyback controller built for adapters and off-line power applications. By packing AHB control logic, drivers, a high-side power MOSFET, X-cap discharge, and robust safety protections into one chip, Joulwatt has achieved a new level of integration. With support for 1.5MHz switching frequencies, the JW1556ZJ helps shrink transformers and magnetic components, enabling the high power density and ultra-slim designs that the fast-charging market demands.

The JW1556ZJ shines through its smart multi-mode control, shifting seamlessly between BCM for heavy loads, DCM for light loads, and Burst Mode for standby. This ensures top-tier conversion efficiency and minimal standby power. A standout feature is its high-frequency driving performance, allowing engineers to reach up to 1.5MHz with just an external resistor. This design reduces switching losses and drives up power density. Safety is also a priority; the chip includes active X-capacitor discharge for quick residual energy cleanup and comprehensive protections like VCC overvoltage, short-circuit, Brown-in/Brown-out, and CS pin monitoring to ensure reliability under extreme conditions.

The JW1556ZJ strengthens Joulwatt’s position in high-end power management. By merging complex AHB control with power components, it simplifies PCB design and manufacturing for compact, high-performance power supplies. As the market for high-frequency fast-charging adapters grows, this highly integrated chip is set to become the go-to solution for laptop and mobile device chargers. For manufacturers, the JW1556ZJ is more than a controller—it is a total system solution that delivers reliability, density, and a leaner Bill of Materials.
