Teardown of Bull 22.5W 10000mAh Semi-Solid State Power Bank (GNV-PGA10EB)

January 22, 2026

Introduction

We have obtained a power bank from Bull that utilizes a semi-solid-state battery. A semi-solid-state battery is a lithium-ion battery that incorporates a solid-state electrolyte while retaining a small amount of liquid electrolyte to maintain ion conductivity. With less liquid electrolyte used, the battery is less prone to leakage under extreme conditions such as punctures, compression, or drops, significantly reducing the risk of short circuits and fires originating from the battery. Additionally, the improved thermal stability enhances the overall safety. On the other hand, the reduction of liquid electrolyte also leads to fewer side reactions, which generally results in a longer cycle life for semi-solid-state batteries.

Next, we will disassemble this power bank to examine its internal structure and material design.

Summary of ChargerLAB

Teardown of Bull 22.5W 10000mAh Semi-Solid State Power Bank (GNV-PGA10EB)-Chargerlab

Here is the component list of the Bull 22.5W 10000mAh Semi-Solid State Power Bank for your convenience.

The front features a digital display screen that shows the remaining battery level. The battery capacity is 10000mAh, and the device is equipped with 2 USB-C ports and 1 USB-A port. Among them, USB-C2 supports both input and output. USB-C1 and USB-A are compatible with protocols such as QC, SCP, AFC, etc., while USB-C2 supports PD3.0, PPS, QC4+, and other protocols. The maximum output per port is 22.5W, but when multiple ports are used simultaneously, the output is limited to 5V2A.

After taking it apart, we found that its semi-solid-state battery comes from GPC, with a capacity of 10000mAh. The semi-solid-state battery significantly reduces the amount of liquid electrolyte and incorporates a solid-state electrolyte, offering enhanced safety, thermal stability, and durability. It uses a battery protection chip paired with a battery protection MOSFET, providing multiple layers of protection against overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, and short-circuit risks.

The master control chip is the iSmartWare SW6208S, which handles key functions such as switch-mode charging, synchronous boost, and multi-protocol control all within a single chip. The VBUS MOSFETs are the DP DP8205 dual NMOS, used for power path control of the USB-A and two USB-C ports, helping to manage reverse current and output regulation. Additionally, the back features thermal conductive blocks to dissipate heat from critical components, showing attention to detail in thermal management.
