Pasidal is a company that dedicates for innovative new peripheral product development from Taiwan, China. Recently, we received three Thunderbolt 4 cables from Pasidal. There are very few Thunderbolt 4 products we can see right now. So let us take a look at why this cable is so special. Let’s go.

Review of Pasidal’s New Product: Ultra-high-speed Thunderbolt 4 Cable-Chargerlab

1. Overall introduction

(1) Specifications

The cables we received this time are divided into three different lengths, namely 0.5 m, 0.8 m, and 2 m, to adapt to different purposes.

Review of Pasidal’s New Product: Ultra-high-speed Thunderbolt 4 Cable-Chargerlab

The first one is the 0.5 m cable. Because the cable length is relatively short, the impact of the cable length within 50 cm is close to 0 for the transmission quality, so it can work perfectly. The performances of active and passive cable are the same. Therefore, it is a passive cable, which is suitable for copying data from an SSD and using the power bank to charge.

Then, it will be the 0.8 m passive cable, which is the limit length that the current passive cable can be achieved. The limit length of the Apple passive cable is also the same, which reflects the excellent quality of this cable. This cable is more suitable for desktop charging, external desktop graphics card, display output and other purposes.

The last one is an active cable of 2m. At this length, the bandwidth will be severely affected by the length of the cable. It is necessary to purchase an active cable with a chip. The passive cable can only achieve 20 Gbps bandwidth at that length. This length is mainly suitable for some special purposes, for example, the outlet is far away and needs to be extended.

(2) Appearance

The cable is made of black rubber wire, which is tight, smooth and without burrs.

The diameter of the cable is 4.68 m. It can support higher bandwidth requirements.

There is a thunderbolt mark on both sides of the cable, and the “4” means this cable is the fourth-generation thunderboltstandard. At present, only the Thunderbolt 4 cables that have passed the official certification of Intel can print the Thunderbolt mark and the number 4 logo at the end of the cable, which is convenient for users to judge the specifications of the cable clearly.

At the same time, there is Pasidal logo on the other side of the cable, and it extended the length of the end, making the product more durable.

Up and down sides of the Pasidal Thunderbolt 4 cable used 12-pin, a total of 24 full pins, which meets the requirements of the Thunderbolt 4 standard. At the same time, there are three clips on the top and bottom to ensure the stability of the connection.

(3) Specifications

Use ChargerLAB POWER-Z KT002 to check the cable information. You can see that it supports up to 20V 5A 100W power, and the cable length is less than 1 m.

Use ChargerLAB POWER-Z KM001C to reread the cable information. You can see the same power information, while supporting up to 40 Gbps bandwidth. And there are 22 Gbps is used to transmit data, and 18 Gbps or above is used to transmit video.

2. Cable Test

One of the best features of Thunderbolt cable is that a single cable can solve almost all the problems you can encounter at the same time, such as charging, data transmission, video transmission, and external graphics card. Next, we will test those features one by one.

(1) Charging Test

Review of Pasidal’s New Product: Ultra-high-speed Thunderbolt 4 Cable-Chargerlab

First of all, we found the Black Shark 4 Pro, which supports up to 120 W ultra-fast charging, which can basically test the power limit of the cable. The mobile phone comes with a 120W USB-A output port. However, it can also have good compatibility with third-party high-power chargers, so you can find a charger with a USB-C output port in the test. And we can see the power is 93.24 W.

This is another gaming phone, the Red Magic 6 Pro. It also supports 120W ultra-fast charging, and the charging power we can see is 93.44W. Basically the same as the previous one.

In terms of the laptop, we found Apple’s Macbook Pro 16 inches, which can be charged at 90 W.

The second is Apple’s other notebook, Macbook Air. We can see the power can reach to 45 W, which is basically the limit charging power of the Macbook Air.

Finally, we also tried to charge the HYPER JUICE 100W power bank. The power can reach to 96.89 W.

(2) Data Transmission

Review of Pasidal’s New Product: Ultra-high-speed Thunderbolt 4 Cable-Chargerlab

In the data transmission part, we found the latest Macbook Air equipped with the M1 chip, with Samsung 970EVO SSDand a hard drive enclosures that supports the USB 4 standard.

Review of Pasidal’s New Product: Ultra-high-speed Thunderbolt 4 Cable-Chargerlab

It can be seen that the transmission speed can reach to 1288.8m/s for writing and 2769.2m/s for reading, which meets the standard of Thunderbolt 4.

(3) Video transmission

Review of Pasidal’s New Product: Ultra-high-speed Thunderbolt 4 Cable-Chargerlab

In addition to supporting charging and data transmission, the Pasidal Thunderbolt 4 data cable also supports video transmission. You can use the cable to connect the supported monitors and laptops with Thunderbolt ports directly.

Review of Pasidal’s New Product: Ultra-high-speed Thunderbolt 4 Cable-Chargerlab

As shown in the picture, the display’s resolution is 2160P, 60Hz, 30-bit, which means the Pasidal Thunderbolt 4 cable can support 4K 60Hz video transmission.

Summary of ChargerLAB

Currently, only Apple, UGREEN, Zikko and other manufacturers have launched standard Thunderbolt 4 cable, and it is rare for different lengths of the cable to meet the Thunderbolt 4 standard. The new Pasidal Thunderbolt 4 cable, whether in charging, data transmission or video transmission, has reached the Thunderbolt 4 standard. So, it especially suitable for users who have needs in life, study, and office. And customers can select the corresponding length of the cable based on their own needs.
