Pro-grade tool maker Festool has rolled out its new BP 18 TBX 4 (4.0Ah) and BP 18 TBX 8 (8.0Ah) 18V battery packs, adopting advanced tabless cell technology to supersede the outgoing Li-HighPower lineup. Fully compatible with Festool’s existing 18V cordless ecosystem, these packs leverage a tabless, low-impedance design to elevate heavy-duty performance and thermal efficiency, providing optimized power density for carpentry, job sites, and maintenance work.

The TBX series excels in high-amp output and thermal control. The 600g BP 18 TBX 4 balances weight and power for extended fatigue-free handling, while the high-capacity BP 18 TBX 8 targets demanding high-draw cutting applications to minimize downtime. The tabless configuration shortens current flow paths and drops resistance.

For power replenishment and smart integration, both units support Festool's AIRSTREAM active cooling and charge in roughly 25 minutes using the SCA 16 fast charger. Additional highlights include integrated LED indicators, protective edge bumper molding, and Bluetooth connectivity for auto-activating dust extractors and tracking temperature/cycle data via the Festool App.

Festool's TBX tabless series signals a decisive leap into a third-era benchmark for premium cordless power—defined by minimal internal resistance, high C-rates, and fast turnaround. By addressing both light and heavy-duty needs through a dual-capacity approach and pairing active/passive cooling with full app-based telemetry, Festool sets a fresh standard. As tabless tech proliferates across pro-grade tools, intelligent, fast-charging batteries will continue driving field efficiency to new heights.
