Introduction

In our previous article, we demonstrated how to use the ChargerLAB POWER-Z KM003C to monitor wireless charging power. While this method provides a result, it is relatively crude. In this article, we will introduce a more advanced feature: measuring the actual capacity of a power bank. Let's dive in!

Testing Equipment

For this test, we will be using the following equipment: Xiaomi 20000mAh 33W Power Bank with Built-in Cable, charging cable and KM003C.

Step 1: Connect the Devices

First, connect the male plug of the KM003C to the Xiaomi power bank

Step 2: Start the Test

There are two ways to record data: online and offline. We will demonstrate both methods in this article.

Offline Recording

Switch to the offline recording interface on the KM003C. Then, press the confirm button to create a new record. The tester will start recording data.

As shown in the figure, the Xiaomi power bank used in this test has been in use in our laboratory for a long time, and its actual capacity is far less than its original capacity. Therefore, to avoid misunderstanding, we only charged 47.27Wh of energy, and the charging time was 2 hours and 46 minutes. (Note: The tester has limited storage capacity. If you want to ensure sufficient sampling time, you need to adjust the sampling frequency accordingly. Please refer to the KM003C manual for specific settings.)

Online Recording

After connecting the tester, click the "Start Recording" button. (Note: For first-time use, you need to set the appropriate storage capacity and sampling frequency in the PC software to ensure sufficient recording time.)

Step 3: Save Data and Read Data

The recorded offline data can also be opened and viewed in the software, where you can draw graphs and export raw data tables. (Click here for the complete tutorial.)

The total test time and power consumption can be seen in the lower left corner of the software chart area. Once the test is finished, you can export the data table for later reference. (Click here for the complete tutorial.)
