Apple Vision Pro VR headset shipments have recently started, and digital bloggers from all over the world have participated in this feast, bringing a variety of content related to the product's unboxing, experience, and disassembly. The parameters of the Apple Vision Pro Battery, which powers the device, have also gradually surfaced. This battery uses three cells, with a total capacity of 9498mAh, and the output port is a special "fat version of Lightning". What to learn more? Let's find out.

The Apple Vision Pro Battery is made of smooth aluminum alloy, with the Apple logo embossed on the body. The overall texture is close to that of the MacBook shell, and the whole machine weighs about 362g. As a reference, the common 10000mAh power bank on the market generally weighs around 180g-220g, so the Apple Vision Pro Battery is about equivalent to two 10000mAh power banks.

In addition, it adopts a flat and rounded design, and the back is covered with a cover plate with the same process, which is laser-engraved with the nameplate parameters: model: A2787, output: 13V6A Max (78W), input: 5-20.3V3.3A (67W) Max, capacity: 3166mAh / 35.9Wh (9498mAh).

In terms of ports, the Apple Vision Pro Battery has a USB-C charging port on the side, which is the input port. It supports the USB PD fast charging standard, with a maximum input power of 67W. The output port adopts a special "embedded" design and has a self-locking structure.

Its output cable is made of twisted threads, and its material is the same as the new generation of woven cables for iPhone, but it is much thicker than the cable that comes with the iPhone. To the left of the output port is the unlock pinhole, and to the right is the power indicator light. Use a SIM card pin or other slender object to "poke" into the unlock pinhole to release the internal self-locking structure and remove the output connector.

In terms of structure, the output connector is larger in size and is made of metal using the same process as the battery. There are grooves on both sides of the connector to hold the self-locking structure. Let's call this connector a "fat version of Lightning". The design is similar to the Lightning port that has been outdated by iPhone 15 and iPad, but the width has become 1.5 times wider, and the number of pins has increased from 8 to 12. More pins mean that the upper limit of data communication or power transmission performance is higher.

As you can see from the iFixit teardown, the interior of the Apple Vision Pro Battery is very neat. The battery and PCBA are firmly fixed to the shell with screws, and the side walls of the fuselage are very thick, effectively resisting impact from falling. Multiple metal components are used near the output port to strengthen the firmness, avoiding damage to the internal connector socket and circuit board by the cable pulling during impact.

As you can see from the disassembly diagram, the battery pack consists of three cells connected in series; the voltage platform of the multi-string battery pack is higher, and the charging and discharging performance is stronger than that of the parallel battery pack, which can achieve a maximum output of 78W and an input of 67W.

Battery code overview; the model is A2733, the implementation standard is the new national standard GB 31241 for lithium-ion batteries in China, and the manufacturer is Desay. The battery pack has a nominal voltage of 11.34V, a full voltage of 12.675V, and a capacity of 3166mAh. So the voltage platform of each single cell is 3.78V, the full voltage of each single cell is 4.225V, and the total capacity of the battery pack is 9498mAh.

Summary of ChargerLAB

The Apple Vision Pro Battery is a accessory specifically designed for the Apple Vision Pro. It features a USB-C port supporting 67W PD fast charging input, and outputs through a new type of "fat version of Lightning" connector with a self-locking mechanism, capable of delivering a peak output power of up to 78W. Internally, the battery assembly consists of three Desay 3166mAh cells connected in series, providing a total capacity of 9498mAh. The overall weight is approximately equivalent to two common 10000mAh power banks.

It is rumored that the Apple Vision Pro Battery will come in three different capacities. The initial release of 9498mAh is just one of them. It is speculated that Apple will subsequently open up similar to MFi certification authorization, to third-party accessory manufacturers, in order to enrich the Apple Vision Pro ecosystem.
